Knock Off Mirror

Hello!  I hope you are all doing well!  It has been pretty crazy around here lately!  My husband, Ben, and our son, Ty, got home from church camp last night.  It was Ty's first over night camp!  He had a blast!  There was a Super Hero Theme...

And while they were at camp, Emery and I hung out with my parents.  My mom and I took Emery for her first mani/pedi!  So cute!!

So today I wanted to show you a mirror that we built.  My mom saw this gorgeous mirror in an antique store in Houston and fell in love with it.

So we decided to try and recreate it.    She needed something fabulous for her dining room and this was it!  But she wanted it to be much larger.  So we got a piece of plywood at Home Depot and had it cut to size.

Then painted it in this fabulous corally red color and then a second coat of Paris Gray.  Once this was dry, we stenciled an all over pattern in a soft cream color.

Then we began sanding the whole thing!  I wanted a lot of the red to come through and the cream stencil to fade away some with a distressed look.

The next step was to wax the whole board with light and lots of dark wax.  Then came the trim.

Here is a close up of the background and the trim.   The last step was to add the mirror to the board.  My mom already had this beautiful mirror.  It was perfect for this.  So we attached it to the board using picture hangers.  So easy!
Here is the finished product!

It turned out soooo great!  It looks beautiful in her dining room!  This was a super fun project!  And I love how it turned out!
